While some interior design trends remain as compelling as they have always been, there are a number of exciting new interior design directions for 2016. We spoke to Dimitris Stefanidis, Caydon’s Senior Interior Designer about what will have an impact this year.
Colours of pink and blue. The new Pantone colours of the year – Rose Quartz and Serenity have already taken off. Not purely feminine colours according to Dimitris, they can work just as well in a masculine setting.
Scandinavia still rules. One trend Dimitris believes could continue forever is the clean lines and spare design of Scandinavian furniture.
Bring out the Royal Doulton. Formal dining rooms are rushing back into favour as people return to serious dinner parties and the ritual of sharing a meal. This includes full table settings using classic tableware and cutlery.
Wallpapers that look like walls. Modern wallpaper designs reflect the industrial feel of the past few years. They can create the look of exposed concrete, pressed metal or rough bricks into a living space however Dimitris advises the application needs to be perfect for this to work as well as it should.
It’s all about you. The most important trend is the rule of the individual. It’s time to let your interiors reveal your personality and pursuits. Be bold and scatter your originality around a mix of classic pieces to create real magic.
